Gracie Jiu -Jitsu

The first Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) was held in 1993. Martial artists of all different disciplines and weights were able to compete against each other in an open forum to see what the greatest fighting style truly was. Many martial artists who considered themselves invincible were soon “tapping out.” These multi-discipline events finally answered the question being asked by martial artists for decades – Which martial arts are most effective? The answer appeared to be Brazilian Jiu- Jitsu.

Since the inception of these multi-discipline competitions, the evolution of martial arts has been rapidly accelerated. Jiu-Jitsu was originally developed in India, but didn’t gain popularity until it reached Japan in the late 1600s. It was an art of self-defense that included joint locks, throws, chokes, and other grappling manipulations with the goal of getting an opponent to submit. One of the most unique aspects of Jiu-Jitsu is that it relies on technique and leverage rather than strength. This made Jiu Jitsu the ideal art for practitioners of all shapes and sizes.

In the early 1900’s, a prominent Japanese Jiu-Jitsu player migrated to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. In exchange for services, he passed on his art to a Brazilian and his sons (the Gracie Family). The Gracies found that Jiu-Jitsu gave them the technical abilities to win “No Holds Barred” matches and they became well respected fighters. The Gracies began advancing the art of Jiu- Jitsu and ridding it of any impractical techniques. The art of Gracie(Brazilian) Jiu-Jitsu was born.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, also known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, is an efficient martial art and works well for everyone, regardless of power or strength. This makes Jiu-Jitsu the ideal self-defense martial art for smaller, older or less physical people. Statistical empirical data suggests that 80% of all fights end up on the ground either by accident or by design! Jiu-Jitsu is the obvious choice of skill to be learned in order to defend oneself properly.

At Core Combat Sports, our BJJ classes include dynamic and fun exercises that will boost your metabolism, build strength and endurance, increase flexibility and drastically improve your cardio vascular fitness levels. Because the core muscles of the body control many of the movements in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, core exercises are a big part of every class; in fact it’s in our name! Kickboxing

In this class, you will learn the best of boxing and kick boxing including footwork, punch combinations, slipping or evading punches and special tactics.

As a beginner, you will punch and kick pads, bags, and work with a partner resulting in a truly awesome workout! Kickboxing is perfect for men and women looking for reliable and practical self-defense skills and superior cardio conditioning. Core Combat Sports kickboxing classes offer a fitness program that is safe for the mainstream exercise devotee. In our kickboxing classes you train like a fighter in all areas but full contact sparring (unless competition is your goal as well. Many of the drills in our kickboxing classes are made up of two or three minute rounds, with one minute recovery periods. This format is ideal for improving technique, strength, cardio vascular fitness, and stamina. MMA practitioners know how important it is to be skilled in stand up striking techniques to defeat an opponent. Here at the Core Combat Sports, we teach modified kickboxing for our MMA fight team as well.

MMA

Our Mixed Martial Arts fighter program allows you to come to all kickboxing classes, all Jiu-Jitsu classes, and MMA classes. Our MMA curriculum consists of a hybrid form of all of our classes, utilizing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, kickboxing and boxing, the proper way to strike from the ground as well as the most effective techniques from other styles of fighting. MMA represents the evolution of the modern martial arts. MMA employs a wide range of striking and grappling tactics. Core Combat Sports’ fighter program boast a 75% win ratio and has experienced success at all levels from local amateur shows up to the WEC organization. Our fighter program is a close knit family that offers interested parties the chance to compete at the highest level possible in the world’s most challenging sport!

Core Kids

The martial arts provide a great athletic outlet and will help your child use his or her excess energy constructively, making him or her more calm while at home or in school. The class teaches your child basic concepts from kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, and bully-proofing strategies and prevention. Core Combat Sports unique approach teach through skill oriented games to keep classes fun and exciting for kids. Children develop self discipline and self confidence through martial arts. These skills lead children to success in their schooling, personal, and professional lives. By enrolling your child in this unique program, you’ll be helping your child prepare for the challenges they’ll face for the rest of their lives. Children will also develop their work ethic as they participate in our program. Your child will exercise while having an enjoyable and educational experience interacting with their peers. Core kids featuring The “Bully Busters” Program

At the heart of CCS’s kids program is the “Bully Buster Initiative”. Based on Jiu-Jitsu, some kick boxing, and taught through structured lessons and games, Bully Busters aims to “bully-proof” your child by providing him or her with bully-proofing strategies and prevention techniques. Our program combines the fun of learning through play with traditional martial arts to give your child self-esteem, discipline, work ethic, and integrity. Our staff combines Education, Conditioning, Fun, Techniques, and Communication Strategies and Support to bully proof your child! In a society that poses more threats and challenges to children then at any other time in history, this program is a must for your son or daughter.
